Wildfires 2020

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, “Large fire activity continues across several western states where 94 large fires have burned 4.6 million acres. More than 30,000 firefighters and support personnel are assigned to incidents across the country. Evacuation orders remain in effect for communities near 36 large fires in the West.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated in California, Oregon and Washington.

In California, the first, third and fourth largest fires in the states history are all burning. There have been 7,718 fire incidents with total land burned of 3,154,107 acres. Over 6,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed and 20 people have lost their lives as of Sept 11. As of Sept. 6, California passed the record for the worst year in history for the amount of damaged land.

In Oregon, 500,000 people were under evacuation orders and over one million acres had burned as of September 11, and there have been 10 fatalities.

There are also several major fires burning in Colorado, Montana, Washington and Idaho.
