A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Ecuador on Saturday, April 16th. The earthquake devastated the coastal Manabi Province; taking nearly 500 lives, destroying highways and collapsing buildings. Currently, there are approximately 2,500 people injured. It’s estimated that tens of thousands of people have been affected, and many are without power, food and drinking water. The government has declared a state of emergency in six regions, the hardest hit being the village of Pedernales.
Many vulnerable people have been affected and therefore it is critical to respond. Early assessments indicate the greatest need will be temporary shelter, food and clean water.
Music for Relief will be concentrating immediate relief efforts in the most affected areas of Esmeralda and Manabi. Donated funds will support the timely delivery of clean water to the most affected areas to help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases that could lead to a public health crisis.
For survivors, basic assistance could mean the difference between life and death. We urgently need your help to reach as many people as possible.
100% of your donation will go directly towards relief efforts.
